After a million hours flying we started our trip in the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat, an amazing buuteeq costumer in Guilin with one of the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen. We did a lot of outdoor activities, like hiking the moon hill, rafting and bicycling. We went to a Zhang Yimou show in the Li river. This is the same guy who did the show for the Beijing Olympics, so you can get the idea on the scale and quality. Then we flew to Xian manly to see the Terracotta Army where we learned a lot about ancient chinese culture, and we even got a book signed by the farmer who discovered the warriors in 1974!
Then we went to Huangshan to see the yellow mountains. This is the most amazing place I’ve seen in the world. It looks like you are on another planet, no wonder James Cameron used it as inspiration for the Movie Avatar, absolutely stunning.
We ended in Beijing where we went to all the tourist places including the summer palace, forbidden city, temple of heaven, great wall, etc. but there is one activity to end each day that makes the city perfect – foot massage
All the cities and villages felt safe , the people were friendly, helpful and they had very good food. It varies from region to region but genealry very tasty and healthy. Also I was impressed by the amount of internal tourism , for every western tourist there are 30 Chinese!
